The Asian-grocery gem that saves you a Sacramento trip.

Can I work from here? No — it's a small grocery market.

Bring kids? Works fine — quick in-and-out for ingredients or a cheap prepared meal.

Under $20? Student-easy. The prepared kimbap and rice sets are some of the cheapest, best lunches downtown.

Kim's Mart is Davis's go-to Asian market — a small, family-owned shop downtown packed with Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Thai, and Filipino ingredients you won't find at the chains. Generations of Aggies have leaned on it to skip the drive to Sacramento.

The rotating case of freshly made prepared foods — kimbap, japchae, kimchi fried rice — doubles as one of the best cheap lunches in town.

MyDavis Insider Tip

The prepared-food case is the secret — freshly made kimbap, japchae, and ddukbokki for a few bucks make one of the best cheap lunches in town. It's also the one place in Davis for hard-to-find Asian staples (enoki, sliced hot-pot beef, soju, Calpico), so you don't have to drive to Sacramento's big Asian grocers. Family-owned, and they take EBT.
