Hikari Sushi & Omakase

Jiro Dreams of Sushi — but in Davis.

Not a work spot Adults mostly Splurge Downtown
Quick answers
·

Can I work from here? No — it's an intimate sushi counter, a destination meal, not a place to open a laptop.

·

Bring kids? Adults, mostly. It's a quiet, multi-course experience best for older kids and teens who'll sit through it — plenty of families do come for celebrations.

·

Under $20? Splurge, and worth it. The omakase runs around $160–175 a head — this is a special-occasion meal.

Omakase means "a meal selected by the chef," and that's exactly what you get — you won't find a California roll here. It's a rotating, seasonal menu with ingredients flown in from Japan and served at their freshest.

From caviar and uni to wagyu and otoro, this is for the dedicated fish lovers. There's truly no other restaurant like it in the area at this quality and price point — a genuine gem, and a real traditional sushi experience right here in Davis.

MyDavis Insider Tip

Friday and Saturday are the prix-fixe omakase seatings (reservation only, one seating around 7pm) — but on weekdays you can often walk in and order à la carte sushi at the bar. Sit at the counter to watch the chef. It was one of six Davis spots featured on Guy Fieri's Best Bites in Town.
